Subj: Really Enjoyed Meeting You Date: 6/27/2000 Kelly & Suzy McG
Dear Chuck & Claudia
I just wanted to drop the two of you a note and say how very much I enjoyed meeting you. Nancy Petty had spoken so highly of you and I had met your sister, who also spoke so highly of you. I had visited the website and really enjoyed it. So meeting you both was a real pleasure. Chuck, you are a wonderful speaker. Your common sense approach is so on target and your love for dogs sure comes shinning through your talk. I enjoyed your talk so very much and there are several people I will be suggesting that in the fall at the very least they come and listen to your talk. You are an excellent speaker and should probably do some tapes or write a book. It was Great!
Claudia, I am so appreciative that you are willing to give us some of your time this summer to help us with our OPEN dogs. I am also looking forward to the agility class this fall. I do so hope that you all will set up a school here in Granbury. Thank you both again. Suzy McG

Claudia & Chuck,
I am so excited about our Thursday evening class! I had a great time last evening and most
importantly so did Ditzah, my little poodle. She came home from class, ran in the house,
and said, "OK you two old folks. Here are my toys. Now let's play. I'm ready. Do it!
PLAY NOW!" Her energy level skyrocketed and so did her attitude. I've got my playful
puppy back. I am grateful to you and thrilled at the opportunity to learn how to become
the handler Ditzah deserves.
Thanks again,
Subj: I am so Happy!

I am so happy, I just had to drop you guys a note. Chuck,
thank you for saying something to me about Sara's weight, I had had her on a pumpkin/green
bean diet, and had gotten her weight down, I didn't realize that I was letting it creep
back up, but we're back on the pumpkin/green beans. I really appreciate that you cared
enough to mention it to me. Claudia, I just loved class, my head is almost reeling with so
much great information! I'm going to concentrate on my attitude, foot work and some
attention exercises between now and next class. I just can't say thank you enough. I am so
thrilled that you are willing to give your time to helping us, and I'm so excited and
"pumped up", I may be up for hours just thinking it all through. Thank you so
very much. This is going to be the most fun ever!
Suzy
P.S. My husband, Kelly, really enjoyed spending some time with you Chuck

Hello! My name is Tamerie Ballance and I am proud to be
owned by two Jack Russell Terriers. I started at the Good Dog School over two years ago. I
want to take this opportunity to thank Claudia and her school for taking a chance on my
Jacks. I had checked around at a couple of other agility schools which were not too sure
about taking these "aggressive" and "out of control" dogs. Don't get
me wrong, Claudia did her fair share of checking with good reason, but we passed the test.
I have tried to make it my mission not to have one of "those" Jack Russells but
I soon found myself with an 'out of control' one and a half year old named Kidd..
Aggression in Jack Russell's is not something new, they are breed to hunt and kill large
rats. However, I soon found myself playing the part of a large rat in Kidd's eyes. Kidd
began turning on me for no apparent reason. I had encountered the monster of all Jack
Russell monsters. I soon began realizing that if I didn't do something about this, I was
facing the possibility of loosing a large part of my family. I had run out of options and
decided it was time to seek professional help from someone who had experience dealing with
terriers. I turned to Claudia. Claudia patiently listened and sympathized. It was just
something about her tone and genuine concern that sent a big wave of comfort through me.
Finally, someone understood and told me that this was not something I had caused or could
have prevented. It was such a relief to know that someone else understood what I was going
through and what I was feeling. It was through Claudia that I found out about Rage
Syndrome. All the signs and symptoms seemed to fit. I had never heard of it. Because of
Claudia's suggestion, it gave me a new direction to take and allowed me to make a new
suggestion to my veterinarian. It was like a whole other door opened up; a new direction
to take in treating Kidd. Dr. Nfikel Athon, a vet with a God given talent of treating
animals, ran a series of blood tests. All came back normal except that a few genetic
deformities began showing up. It is now believed that Yidd's problems derived from a
breeders irresponsible practice of severe inbreeding. It was because of Claudia's
extensive knowledge of dogs and her honesty with owners, that Kidd is now leading a happy
and healthy life.
Today, Kidd is being treated with anti-seizure medications and is a rambunctious, playful,
and happy Jack Russell. He earned his first two legs in JWW and a leg towards his Standard
Novice title just two weeks ago. Without Claudia's incite none of this would never had
been possible two months ago. Thank you Claudia! I've got my dog back!
"This is our Australian Shepherd, Hannah. We've been training her with Good
Dog Obedience School and Agility School since February 1999. She's learned to sit, down, stay, come, and heel, and a variety of athletic exercises in agility. Because of all the dogs and people she meets there, she has become a much more social dog. Instead of being fearful and hiding behind me, she now expects all strangers to give her a treat and a scratch!
We love going to classes. When Hannah sees where we're going, she starts
whimpering excitedly in the back seat. I'll ask her, "Hannah, do
you want to go to OVER, TUNNEL, and WALK IT?" (commands
we use in agility). Hannah wiggles and barks to let me know
she's enthusiastic! At home, we use the obedience commands we've learned to build nice
house manners. Hannah waits at the door when I say
"HOLD" and open it, rather than dashing out.
Instead of nudging my feet like a pest, she's able to sit-stay
a couple feet from me while I put on and lace my shoes. She understands
that I want her up on the counter in the vet's office when I tell
her "TABLE." She will go down in the tub on command when it's time to
rinse. (I'm even working on a "shake" command to be sure she
shakes all the water off in the tub with the curtain closed!)
She's ALMOST always reliable when I command her to
"COME." We're still working on that one every day. She
comes and sits right in front of me and looks at me. Hannah has learned
all this in just a few months, and we are so proud of her. I
feel that the school has been such a big support to me. Really, the instructors at the Good Dog school train the people, and the people train
their dogs. I have learned so much, and am continuing to learn!
More than anything, by working with Hannah I have learned how satisfying a
friendship with a dog can be. Hannah absolutely adores me and my family!
She always wants to be near us and she wants to please me.
Sometimes, when I become frustrated with training, and I
think she's just being "difficult," I'll catch a
glimpse of her little tail wagging. Then I realize that she really
is trying to learn, and I remember to have more patience with her. We started
working with a trainer recently to train Hannah to become a Hearing
Dog Companion for our son. So far, Hannah has learned what it means to "FIND" our son. She has always been very responsive to sounds, but
now we have to teach her what sounds are meaningful to us,
and what to do when she hears something of importance. We
predict that by next year, she will be completely trained and
be certified as a Hearing Dog Companion. Hannah also has a lot of puppy in her! She
loves to play with our son, wrestling around on the floor,
and running with him, and hiding in the closet or under
covers with him. She will fetch her little stuffed Frisbee over
and over when he throws it for her. Howling together is also a lot of fun. She is very full of life, and controlling her and slowing her down
will be a big challenge! Hannah has enriched our lives. I'm so
happy we added her to our family! Isn't she beautiful?
